Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need a License or Registration to ride these Electric Bicycles and Scooters?

NO you do not need a licence and as the electric bicycle and scooter motors do not exceed 200 watts they do not require registration.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

YES you need to wear an Australian approved bicycle helmet.

How do I recharge the battery?

Each electric bicycle and scooter comes with a battery charger.  One end is plugged into the battery inlet and the other end is plugged into a standard power point.

How long does it take to recharge the battery?

If the battery is fully flat it will take between 6 and 8 hours to fully charge.

Do I need to wait for the battery to go fully flat before I charge it?

NO you can charge after each use if you wish.  If the battery is half flat then it will take between 3 to 4 hours to fully charge again.

Does the battery recharge when riding?

NO electric bicycle or scooter will charge your battery when riding, you need to use the battery charger to recharge your battery.

How far will the electric bicycles and scooters travel between charges?

You will typically travel between 40 to 50 kilometers when the battery is fully charged.  Distance will vary depending on many things including the weight of the rider, hilly conditions, number of stops, riding speed and whether you are doing any pedalling.

What is the life of the battery?

The lead acid batteries will last between 300 to 400 full charges and the lithium batteries will last between 500 to 550 charges.  So if you are charging from fully flat once a week every single week of the year the lithium batteries will last around 10 years before they require replacing.

Can the electric bicycle be ridden like a normal bicycle?

YES the choice is up to you.  You can simply use the throttle (for models that have a throttle) or use the pedals.  Or you can use a combination of pedal and throttle.

What 'Warranties' apply:

All of our electric bicycles and scooters come with a 12 month warranty from date of purchase.

What maintenance is needed?

The electric motor does not require any servicing.  Other than charging the battery you can basically treat it like a normal bicycle - ensure the tyres are inflated and lubricate moving parts regularly
